Dan Kexel

Daniel Kexel is honored and excited to be the Interim Director of the Evergreen Community Symphonic Band this concert season. Daniel has been the band director at Cedar Heights Middle School in Covington, WA for the past five years. Prior to that, Dan taught middle and high school bands in the Tacoma School District. Dan also was an instructor for the Tacoma Youth Symphony for 14 years, and is currently one of the directors of the Auburn Summer Music Camp.

Dan graduated from WWU in 1994 with a degree in Music Performance and Education and recently received his National Board Certification in teaching. In addition to being an HCSB band member for two years, he has previously performed with the Tacoma Concert Band, Tacoma Opera, Tacoma Symphony, and the Northwest Symphony Orchestra.

Dan and and his wife Laura live in Milton, WA with their 4 year old son Sean, who has ASD. Dan is committed to raising awareness of Autism and its affects on people of all ages.
